Loot-based Lockout You can kill a boss as many times per week as you like, but only loot once per difficulty: once in LFR, once in Normal, and once in Heroic. Applies to all raid bosses of the following expansions: Warlords of Draenor, Legion, Battle for Azeroth, and Shadowlands, as well as Siege of Orgrimmar of Mists of Pandaria. Yes, I'm saying the game isn't set up so that you'll fail in normal/Heroic raids, if you're not running LFR every lockout as well. But now it sounds like your argument is: "If LFR isn't required for normal progression, no one should care if they share lockouts." That's very flawed.
why people in this game seem to think that they have to do every single thing that blizzard adds into the game. 2020-08-10 · Flexible Boss-based Lockout Used for: Normal difficulty raids from Wrath of the Lich King through Throne of Thunder. You can only kill a boss once per week, and you may not enter an instance where a boss is alive that you have already defeated that week. You can clear the raid once per lockout, regardless of its difficulty (since you're able to change the difficulty while you're in the raid instance). An exception are raids with the raid finder difficulty enabled (Dragon Soul and later).

You first said we're literally forcing you to do LFR to progress. I pointed out that you're not actually forced to do it, in that you shouldn't hit a brick wall in progression because you didn't collect enough LFR The LFR kill seems to be counting as Normal, as players who had previously done the encounter on the lowest raid difficulty, which unlocked this week, don't even get gold or any loot options from Normal bosses they defeat. This isn't a coincidence, as the same players then received loot from later bosses which they hadn't cleared in LFR. Legion and Battle for Azeroth LFR, Normal and Heroic raids fall into the Loot-Based Lockout section. Legion and Battle for Azeroth Mythic raids use the Strict Instance-based Lockout .

But at least you can see something of the raid already in an environment which is pretty safe. Not everyone has the chance to run normal raids, as they take time to set up, A LOT more coordination than LFR does, and is something fairly quick (que times differ) to run during our spare time. I know that gear will be upgradable in the 5.1 patch with VPs, with is something I'm really looking forward to, but don't screw over the casual gamer with crappy gear in the LFRs. Although "Heroic" does not require a clear of "Normal" to unlock, "Mythic" will require a clear of "Normal"/"Heroic" to unlock (when it becomes available a week or so after "Normal" and "Heroic" are released).

If you're not raiding normal and heroic raids, it won't affect you, as you'll still be doing LFR just the same. It is indeed a possibility that we might make LFR share lockout with normal raids, but it is not something we are planning currently. We have seen a lot of assumptions about how raid content will be run in Mists of Pandaria, and we find that many of these assumptions are based off of only one tier in C Since the Blizzard change, both will be stored, and displayed separately by the addon. This is what causes the display of two entries for each LFR lockout, one as part of the regular raid lockout (labeled "Throne of Thunder"), and the other from the special LFR handling code (labeled "LFR: Throne of Thunder").
